Hey guys! So this week I listened to the new Young Thug’s album “Slime Language 2” featuring everyone he has signed to his label YSL or Young Stoner Life. So that pretty much means that whole cover art is everyone he has signed to his label, and I’m honestly surprised because I didn’t realize so many people were signed. It’s definitely cool to see Young Thug put in a lot of effort giving the spotlight to other artists, and while this album wasn’t the best of his work, I can appreciate the energy he’s putting into the trap scene.

Anywho let’s get straight to it. The album was pretty long if I can be honest. 23 songs going up to an hour and fifteen minutes, and while I do love hearing trap and some Thugger, I felt like this project was a bit too long. There was a lot repetition between songs in style and in terms of lyrical content, making it feel like the only difference was who was rapping them. While there were some special songs that made me feel excited like “Solid ft. Drake”, “Came and Saw ft. Rowdy Rebel”, “WokStar ft. Strick and Skepta”, and “Moon Man ft. Kid Cudi”, it was still a bit of effort to go through the whole project. There were also some new artists that I listened to and I think have potential coming out of YSL. Artist Karlae showed off her ability to rap well in the songs “I Like” and “Trance”. Another one would be Dolly White, and even though she only had an appearance in one song, I did enjoy her ruggedness in “Reckless”. Besides that, I don’t think there’s much else to say. I did enjoy some songs from this album, but besides that there wasn’t much else to bring into consideration. If you have anything you’d like to add, feel free to add it in the comments or let me know in the Twitch stream.

I also wanted to let you guys know that the concert scene is slowly coming back to us after the whole pandemic. I noticed that festivals are starting to take place later this year and I’m sure that means that artists will be able to perform at venues now. I wonder if there’s going to be a mandatory mask policy for concerts and I also don’t know how festivals are going to operate but it’ll be interesting to look into it. Right now, I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’m super comfortable with going to live performances this soon, but maybe a crazy lineup will have me thinking otherwise. I just wanted to let you all know, but besides that I hope you all have a great week and I’ll catch you next time!

My Rating: 6/10
